So I tried to get a backlink from a local news site in Spokane
I emailed the editor about a story idea for months with no reply. On a whim, I checked their site's old 'community events' page from 2018 and found a broken link to a closed business. I emailed them saying their link to 'Bob's Bike Shop' was dead and my client's cycling blog could be a good replacement. They fixed it the next day and linked to us. Has anyone else had luck with the broken link trick on smaller news sites?

Broken links on government sites are a goldmine too.

Nice! That's a classic move. It feels like half of getting stuff done is just finding the little broken thing everyone else is ignoring and quietly fixing it.

Right? I'm basically the queen of fixing tiny things to avoid the actual big task. It's like cleaning your whole kitchen instead of starting your taxes. Feels productive but it's just fancy procrastination.

Oh man, I totally get that. I used to think those little fixes were just avoiding the real work. But last week I finally tightened that wobbly doorknob I've been ignoring for months. Now every time I use it, the day feels a tiny bit smoother. It's not about putting off the big stuff, it's about removing those small daily annoyances. That quiet win actually gives me a bit of energy to tackle the harder things later.
