Last week I finally figured out why my guest post links weren't passing authority after 6 months of trying

Turns out I was using the wrong anchor text ratio (75% exact match instead of 25%) based on a tip from an SEO who's built 500+ backlinks, has anyone else spent months missing a simple fix like that?

I spent 3 months "writing guest posts" before realizing I forgot to actually include any links at all.

Had a buddy who spent like 4 months pitching his "design services" to random blogs. Wrote these long thoughtful posts about branding and color theory. Then one day his girlfriend asked him how much traffic he was getting from it. He stared at his screen for a solid minute before he realized there was zero links to his portfolio or website in any of those posts. Four months of free labor and no way for anyone to find him. He said he felt like such a dummy, just slapped his forehead and laughed about it over beers.
