I finally asked my friend in Austin about his broken link strategy
He told me he finds dead pages on old blogs with good authority, then emails the site owner offering a fixed link to a relevant page on his site. He said he got 5 solid links last month just from one old travel blog that hadn't been updated since 2018. It made me see outreach differently, like helping instead of just asking. Has anyone else tried this with a specific type of site, like local business directories?

Yeah, I did something like that with old forum posts about car trouble. Found a thread from ten years back where people listed every weird noise their specific model made. Printed it out and kept it in the shop. It's saved me hours of guessing more than once. That old data is still good if you know where to look.
