Hit 50 niche edits in a month without breaking my budget
I was aiming for 25 but landed 50 niche edits last month by bartering with a buddy who runs a network of local blogs - cost me zero cash. Has anyone else found swapping services or content beats buying links outright?

50 edits from bartering? That sounds like a lot of low quality blogs your buddy runs. I've seen people swap services before and end up with links that barely pass a basic spam check. Not saying yours are bad, but swapping with one person usually means you're getting the same limited footprint over and over. Google's been cracking down on that kind of pattern lately.

That pattern issue is a real concern, and Google's gotten pretty good at spotting link networks even when they look natural. The real risk with bartering from one source is you might be getting the same anchor text and editorial style across all those sites, which can look like a coordinated campaign. It's worth running a few of those links through a manual review to see if they look independent enough to hold up long term.
