Heard a guy at a meetup say guest posting is dead, now I'm split
Last week at a SEO meetup in Seattle, some dude claimed guest posting is a waste because Google ignores most of them now. But another guy said he still gets good referral traffic from well-placed guest posts on niche blogs. I've been doing it for years myself, mostly on small sites, and I'm not sure if I'm spinning my wheels or not. Which side are you on, or is there a middle ground I'm missing?

Honestly I feel you on this, it's confusing when you hear totally opposite takes from people who seem to know what they're talking about. I'm in the same boat where I still do guest posts on smaller sites and I can't tell if it's actually helping or just a habit.

Wait, isn't that exactly why it's worth doing though? I mean, the big pros all say it's a waste, but honestly, if you're getting links and traffic from those smaller sites, that's still real juice for your domain. The issue is people compare it to getting a guest post on a huge site, but that's not a fair comparison. A bunch of solid smaller links can add up to something worthwhile, especially if the sites are legit and actually have readers who click through.

@rose_hart but quality still matters more than quantity in the long run though, right?
