Can we talk about how everyone says you should only do guest posts for backlinks now

I saw a 40% drop in my site's traffic over 6 months after I stopped my old method of finding and fixing broken links on relevant sites, which used to bring in steady, solid links without having to write a single new article.

That "steady, solid links" method you dropped is a real asset. The idea that guest posts are the only way now is just groupthink. You found a process that worked and gave it up because of trends. I would go back to fixing those broken links immediately.

Man, I fell for that groupthink so hard I probably would have bought a timeshare if they'd sold it at an SEO conference. I had a whole system going with those broken link fixes, like maybe 20 solid ones a month, and just ditched it because everyone was yelling about guest posts. Felt like the only kid not wearing the right brand of shoes. Definitely going back to that old process, it was boring but it actually worked.

That "groupthink" line hit me hard. I was one of those people yelling about guest posts actually. I used to think broken link building was just for beginners or people who couldn't land real partnerships. Reading this makes me realize I was the one missing out. You had a solid system and the trends tricked you into dropping it. That's exactly what happens when the whole industry starts shouting about one thing. Makes me wonder what other good strategies I've ignored because they weren't trendy enough.
