Took a date to a quiet coffee shop vs. a loud arcade bar and the difference was huge

The coffee date was way better because we could actually hear each other talk (the bar's music was so loud we just yelled 'what?' for an hour). Has anyone else had a date totally ruined by a bad choice of spot?

Ever try a movie for a first date? You sit in silence for two hours and then have nothing to talk about after.

What about those escape room dates that got popular for a while? I got talked into one and it was pure stress, not fun at all. You're locked in a small room with someone you barely know while a clock is ticking down, and you either fight over clues or just stand there feeling dumb. It felt more like a weird job interview than a date, and we both just wanted it to be over.

Remember when bowling alleys were a decent date idea? Now they blast club music so loud you can't even fake interest in their job. Picked that once and we just awkwardly nodded at each other for two games.
