TIL a study found 1 in 3 people have pretended to get an emergency call to end a date
I was reading a psychology article online yesterday and it mentioned a survey from a dating app. They asked 2,000 people about their date exit plans. The stat said 34% have faked a phone call from a friend or a work crisis to get out early. I guess I'm not surprised, but that's a lot of fake emergencies. It makes you wonder how many of those 'my roommate locked herself out' texts are real. Has anyone here actually done the fake call thing, or been on the receiving end of one?

That's a pretty high number. Did the article break it down by age or gender at all? I'd be curious if younger people, who grew up with phones, are more likely to pull this move than older generations.

Yeah the younger crowd definitely does it more, just put a timer on your phone to avoid the awkward shuffle.
