Spent $80 on a fancy cocktail class just to impress a guy

I used to think spending money on a date activity was dumb, but I booked a mixology workshop at The Copper Tap in Austin for $80 and it actually saved the night. He was shy and I was nervous, but the instructor had us shaking drinks together and it broke the ice fast. We ended up laughing about my terrible pouring skills and talked for two hours after. Has anyone else found that paying for a structured thing beats a boring dinner every time?
