Rant: Overheard my date talking to her friend about my 'dead end job'

So last Friday at this bar in Austin, I went to the bathroom and when I came back I overheard my date telling her friend my IT help desk gig was 'cute but not serious.' She didn't think I heard her. How do you recover from that, or is it just time to call the night early?

Yeah like I get that sometimes things just suck and there's no way around it. But I've been in spots where it feels like everything's falling apart and then something small shifts and suddenly you're looking at it different. It's weird how one little thing can change your whole perspective. Like a friend checking in or just getting a good night's sleep. Not saying it fixes everything but it can help you breathe a bit.

Honestly, that's rough. Maybe next time bring a laminated chart of your "career trajectory" to dinner, that'll show her. Ngl though, if she's judging your job that early, she's saving you a lot of future headaches.
