My attempt to bond over bird watching photos ended in silence

I thought it would be a great idea to share my bird photography hobby on a first date at the park. I brought my camera and started pointing out different species. He just stared at his phone the whole time. When I showed him my best shot of a blue jay, he said it looked like every other bird. The rest of the date was so quiet you could hear a pin drop. I guess not everyone appreciates fine feathered friends.

Have you ever brought a hobby on a date only to get blank stares? I once showed off my fishing lure collection and got a slow nod. Guess some interests are better kept for friends.

Honestly I used to think sharing any hobby showed your real self. But watching friends crash and burn with their coin collections or vintage spoon talks changed my mind. That blue jay photo deserved better than "looks like every other bird," you know? Maybe first dates should just be about figuring out if you both laugh at the same dumb stuff.

Seriously, some hobbies are just TOO specific for first dates! You gotta test the waters before bringing out the passion projects.
