I just figured out why my dates kept ending early
I went on a date last week and we were talking about our jobs. I started explaining my project in way too much detail, like I was in a meeting. He just nodded and looked at his phone. I kept going for maybe 10 minutes before he said 'wow, you really love your work, huh?' in a flat voice. That's when it hit me. I've been treating dates like work presentations for months, boring people to death. I need to stop monologuing and ask more questions. Has anyone else had a moment where you realized you were being the awkward one?

Ever think maybe you're just dating the wrong audience for your TED talk?

My dating history is basically a series of badly aimed TED talks, @simon_coleman. I keep giving deep talks on marine biology to people who just want to go to the beach. Maybe I need simpler slides.

Honestly, Simon nailed it. You're giving a full lecture when you should just be pointing out cool shells. Tbh most people at the beach just want to know if something bites or if it's pretty. Ngl, trying to explain coral spawning to someone checking their tan lines is a sure way to get ghosted. Keep the deep dive for the right person who actually asks for it.
