Toured a Southwest hangar in Dallas last week and their avionics bay setup was frustrating
They have all their wiring bundles ziptied tight as hell in a 2 inch gap behind the panel. Took a tech 20 minutes just to access a Garmin unit that should have been a 2 minute swap. Has anyone else run into maintenance nightmares from OEM layout choices?

Did that tech actually say why it took so long, or was it just the zip ties being impossible to get to? I'm wondering if there's a design reason they cram everything in there, or if it's just someone at the factory not thinking about the poor guy who has to fix it later. Seems like basic stuff like leaving a little extra slack or using velcro instead of hard ties would save huge headaches down the road.
