The wiring in a 1990s Gulfstream vs a 2024 model is night and day
I worked on a G-IV from 1995 last week and the avionics bay was a mess of individual wires everywhere. Then I looked at a brand new G700 and everything was bundled in pre-made harnesses with labels on every single connector. What changed was the industry finally adopting standardized modular harness builds around 2018. Has anyone else noticed this shift on older vs newer airframes?

That's the same thing I see with houses from the 80s versus new builds. The old ones have a rat's nest of wiring that takes forever to trace, but the newer places have everything labeled and color coded so you can actually tell what goes where. It's like the whole world finally realized that a little bit of planning upfront saves everyone a ton of headache later.

Did a buddy of mine have to trace a power issue on a '98 Gulfstream and he found a wire that literally just ended in midair taped to a bundle? He said it took him three hours to figure out it was a leftover from an old GPS install that someone just abandoned instead of pulling out.
