Just wasted $80 on a knockoff crimp tool for D-sub connectors
I grabbed a cheap one online for a quick job on a Garmin G1000 install, and the crimps kept failing continuity checks. Ended up having to redo twelve connectors with a proper tool, which set me back half a day. Anyone have a go-to brand for D-sub tools that won't let you down?

Quick job on a G1000" is where the trouble starts, those are never quick.

Honestly my $15 Amazon crimper has done fifty D-subs without a hiccup.

Yeah until you hit a bad pin or need to redo one. Those cheap crimpers are fine for simple stuff but they don't have the feel for a proper crimp on finicky connectors. You get what you pay for, and a rushed job with the wrong tool costs way more later.
