Just read that a single bad solder joint in a 737's flight data recorder can cost over $50k to find and fix. Found it in an old FAA report my boss printed out.

That "single bad solder joint" thing is why we started doing a full visual inspection pass before power-on tests. Found a cold joint on a power supply board last month that would have caused a random reset. Saved us a week of chasing ghosts.

Yeah, that "saved us a week of chasing ghosts" part is so true. It feels like a lot of modern problems, not just in tech, come from skipping the basic visual check. We get so focused on the complex diagnostics that we miss the obvious, broken thing right in front of us. It's like checking your internet connection before reinstalling the whole operating system. That extra minute of looking can save you a huge amount of wasted time and frustration down the line.

Right? That basic check thing applies to so much more than just tech. I catch myself overthinking problems with my house or my car, and half the time it's just something simple and obvious I skipped over. It's like we got trained to assume the fix has to be complicated, when really the easy answer is usually the right one.
