Heard about the G1000 update mess at my hangar this week

Tuesday one of the line guys was talking about a 2020 G1000 software update that wiped the flight plan database on three planes during a routine check. Apparently the field loader was fine but the installer skipped a checksum step, and now the shop is redoing all the config files this weekend. I've never seen that specific failure, but it makes me wonder if we should always verify the CRC on the SD card before we pull the trigger. Anyone else run into corrupt update media leaving a plane dark on the ramp?

Honestly that checksum thing sounds like the exact kind of slip that gets buried in the logbook until it bites you. I read a forum post last month about a guy who had the same issue with a regional carrier, and they ended up having to pull the whole database off the aircraft because the config files got half written. Tbh, I always double check the media hash before I even plug an SD card into anything these days, it takes two minutes and saves a weekend of headaches.
