The $40 torque wrench from Harbor Freight saved my transmission rebuild

I was dead set against using budget tools for anything internal, but mine read dead on against a snap-on unit during a 4L60E rebuild last month and the trans shifts perfect at 300 miles now. Anyone else had a cheap tool surprise them in a good way?

yeah i learned that the hard way after buying a cheap set that was like 10 ft lbs off on the low end. do yourself a favor and check it against a known good one every couple of big jobs, especially if you drop it. ive had a pittsburgh one hold up for years but i always test it before anything that matters like head bolts or trans stuff. if it reads true, send it.
