That one Wednesday where everything just worked

I had a day back in June that still sticks with me. Three cars came in one after the other, a 2003 Civic with a shaky idle, a F-150 with a dead fuel pump, and a Subaru with a blown head gasket. I got the Civic sorted in 45 minutes with just a new IAC valve, the F-150's pump was buried but I had it out and swapped in under two hours, and the Subaru I quoted for a full head job and the customer said yes on the spot. No comebacks, no stripped bolts, no arguing with parts about the wrong gasket set. By 4 PM I was done and had actually cleaned my bay for once. The boss even bought everyone pizza that afternoon. Has anyone else had a random day that went so smooth it felt like the universe was cutting you a break?

Did you find that Subaru head job easier than expected too?

Way easier than I expected. The boxer layout makes the timing marks way more accessible than any inline 4 I've worked on. Just make sure you have the cam holding tool or you'll fight it all day.

Fight it all day" is exactly right. That's the thing with any job, not just cars. If you don't have the right tool or setup, you'll spend hours on something that should take minutes. @finleyf88 nailed it with that cam holder tip, it's the difference between a smooth job and a nightmare.
