Wow, you put a spare fan belt in a glovebox and it held together with just a zip tie? That's wild! @lunakim, your dad must have been pretty resourceful to make that work in 110 degree heat.

That stripped bolt story brings back a memory. My dad had an old Chevy truck that threw a belt in 110 degree heat once, and we learned the hard way why you keep a spare fan belt in the glovebox. A fellow mechanic at the gas station showed us how to tighten it with a zip tie as a temporary fix, got us home before it snapped again. Never would have thought of that on my own, but now I always carry a handful of heavy duty zip ties in my tool bag. Funny how the simple tricks stick with you, right?

Man, zip ties are a lifesaver for sure. I used one to hold a busted radiator hose together just long enough to limp to an auto parts store, works way better than you'd think.
