Question about that trick for removing a seized caliper bracket bolt with an impact wrench

Everyone at the shop in Toledo said to heat it for 20 minutes first, but I just soaked it in PB Blaster overnight and zipped it off with my Milwaukee impact in 10 seconds flat, so has anyone else found heat isn't always the answer?

You're right about the PB Blaster. That stuff works wonders when you give it time to creep in. A good impact wrench has enough brute force to break the corrosion bond without heat. Heat can warp things or ruin the bolt's temper if you're not careful.

Yeah but you forgot the part where you need three hands to hold the impact, the socket, and keep the bolt from spinning. I've had more success just hitting it with a hammer and yelling at it until something gives. The PB Blaster is great until you realize you used the whole can on one caliper bracket bolt.

My neighbor's caliper bolt took two days and a whole can of WD-40.
