PSA: Spent 11 years greasing wheel bearings by hand before a guy in Dallas showed me the needle fitting trick
Packed bearings with my palm for over a decade until a tech at a Dallas shop watched me do it and pointed out I was pushing grease past the seal lip half the time, so has anyone else had that palm packing habit bite them on a comeback?
Eleven years of palm packing and nobody said a word? That's wild. The seal lip thing makes sense though, you're basically forcing grease sideways into the seal instead of into the rollers, and a greasy brake drum on a comeback is the worst. I had a guy show me the needle fitting on a spindle years ago and I felt like an idiot for not knowing sooner.
