Bought a $200 torque wrench that turned out to be a dud

Spent $200 on a fancy digital torque wrench off Amazon and it was clicking at 30 ft-lbs when I set it to 50. Lost a whole Saturday chasing a loose head bolt on a Subaru. Anyone else had bad luck with online tool brands vs buying local?

Got a Harbor Freight one that's been dead nuts for three years now. Maybe the expensive ones are the ones that need babying.

Totally agree with you man. My cheap torque wrench gets thrown around the shop and still reads perfect every time. Sometimes you gotta wonder if the pricey stuff is just for the name.
