A warning about those cheap aftermarket throttle bodies for 2010s Hondas
Last Tuesday, a car came in with a rough idle and a check engine light for a throttle position sensor. The owner had just put in a $75 throttle body from a parts website. We swapped it for a good used OEM unit, and the code cleared right up. The cheap part's sensor was sending junk data from the start. Has anyone else seen a rash of these failing right out of the box?

Actually, I've had pretty good luck with those budget parts. My Civic's been running fine on one for almost two years now. Maybe you just got a bad one.

But what's the actual failure rate on those cheap sensors? Some people get lucky, but how many are just bad right away? That's the real gamble with saving a few bucks.

Totally! My buddy's Accord ate two of those cheap sensors in a month before he gave up and went OEM.
