That old timer at the salvage yard in Spokane had a point about quarter panels
He told me, 'Kid, you can't just weld over rust, you gotta chase it back to clean metal or it'll laugh at you in six months.' I was pulling a panel off a '98 Civic and found a spot I'd have just filled. Anyone else have a moment like that change their process?

Saw a piece about how older cars are easier to work on yourself. Makes sense why someone would keep a '98 Civic running, @the_margaret. Parts are cheap and the knowledge is all online now.
