Talking to a detailer at a car show made me stop using quick detail spray on fresh paint
I was at the big show in Charlotte last weekend and got chatting with a guy who does high end paint correction. I mentioned I'd been using a spray wax on a fresh respray after a week, just to get some shine on it for the customer. He looked at me like I had two heads and said, 'You're sealing in solvents. That paint needs to breathe for a solid month, minimum.' He explained it can cause clouding or adhesion problems down the road. I'd never really thought about it that way, I just figured once it was dry to the touch it was good. Now I'm telling my customers to just hand wash with plain water for the first 30 days. Has anyone else had a problem from sealing fresh paint too early?

That's a perfect example of why plain water isn't enough. I always thought a quick rinse was fine until I saw the same thing happen to a car down the street. Now I make sure to dry it off properly.
