Swapped out my hammer and dolly for a stud welder on a rusty quarter panel

For like 10 years I was all about the hammer and dolly method for pulling dents on quarter panels. But last Tuesday on a '97 Civic in Omaha, the metal was so thin it just kept stretching no matter what I did. Grabbed a stud welder I'd been ignoring in the back and pulled the dent out in 20 minutes with way less filler. Anyone else finally give up on traditional bodywork tools for certain jobs?

Did the job pay extra for the wizardry fee or did you have to eat that cost yourself? Because that sounds way too easy, my luck would've been the stud welder breaking after one pull. Guess the old hammer and dolly just lost its job to the new guy.

Jumped over to stud welding about five years ago after a Ford truck fender just laughed at my slide hammer.

Saw a YouTube guy who said a slide hammer to him was just a fancy way of cussing at metal.

Honestly, stud welders just make you feel like a wizard instead of a blacksmith.
