Saw a 1972 Chevelle at the Rockford car show with the cleanest quarter panel weld I've ever seen.

The guy blended it so well you couldn't even feel the seam with your fingernail, and he said he used a Miller 252 with a .023 wire and just took his time.

Man, that's some serious skill. How long did he say it took him?

A .023 wire on a 252 is a pretty fine setup for that kind of work. Did he mention his technique for grinding it down? Like, what kind of steps or specific tools he used after the weld to get it that smooth without going too thin?

Honestly, he said he starts with a clean 80-grit flap disc just to knock down the high spots. Tbh the real trick is switching to a fresh 120-grit for the final pass, and you gotta keep the grinder moving so you don't dig in. Ngl it takes some patience, like what @rowan725 was getting at, maybe 20 minutes of careful grinding after the weld cools.
