Pro tip: I don't think you always need a full paint booth for a spot repair

I was working on a 2018 Ford F-150 in my shop in Knoxville last month, just a small rock chip on the hood. A painter from a big dealership in town came by to pick up a part and saw me setting up my portable spray shelter in the corner. He said, 'You're going to get trash in that, you need a sealed environment for any color match.' But I've been using this Pro-Tek shelter for about 3 years now. I wet the floor, use a tack cloth right before, and my blend is always clean. That day, I matched a three-stage pearl white perfectly. The extra time and cost of running the whole booth for a 6-inch repair doesn't make sense to me for every job. What's the smallest repair you'll do outside the main booth?

My last booth repair was so clean, the only trash in it was my lunch bag.

My buddy found a full, unopened bag of chips in his last one. Customer must have forgotten it after lunch.

Wow, that's wild. I actually have the opposite experience, my booths are always a mess. Sticky floors, crumbs everywhere, you name it. Robinp72, I wish I got your clean ones. Most customers just leave their trash behind without a second thought. Finding forgotten chips sounds like a lucky break compared to what I usually deal with. It's more like a part-time cleaning job on top of the repair work.
