Paint code mismatch from the dealer's rep, trust your spectrometer next time

I had a customer bring in a Honda Civic last month with a scuffed rear bumper, and the dealer rep swore the code printed on the door tag was exact color match. I laid down a test card and it was off by a mile, looked almost gold next to their silver. My spectrometer said the mix was 2 shades darker, but I ignored it because he was so sure. Now I'm redoing the whole panel and eating the extra materials cost. Honestly, has anyone else had dealer reps push wrong paint codes, or is it just my luck in Austin?

Dealer reps always trust their damn manuals over real world paint, sorry you ate that cost man.
