Old timer at the Napa parts counter told me I was using too much hardener in my body filler
He said the 2% rule is a myth and Ive been making my mud crack for years after a 70 degree day in Phoenix, has anyone else tested different ratios on a hot panel?

Bro that old timer is gatekeeping hardener ratios like its a secret family recipe. Bet he still mixes bondo on a cardboard box with a popsicle stick too. 2% rule might be a myth but cracking mud in 110 degree sun is a real thing, I've seen it happen lol. Honestly the heat in Phoenix probably cooks the hardener before you even get the mud spread half the time. Try cutting it to 1.5% and see if your panels stop looking like a dry lakebed.

Phoenix heat is no joke, that mud sets up before you can even blink in summer. I'd try 1.5% too.
