My 20 year old paint booth fan finally gave up

Last Tuesday the exhaust motor on my booth started screaming like a stuck pig, then just died. That fan has been running since I bought the shop in 2005, and I never once thought about replacing it. Had to turn away a full week of work because I can't spray without proper airflow. Found a used replacement on Craigslist for $400, but it took three days to wire it in because the old mounting bracket was welded to the frame. It been running fine since, but now I'm second guessing every other piece of equipment that's seen two decades of overspray. Anyone else holding onto gear way longer than they should, or am I the only one paying for it on a random Tuesday?

Honestly been there with way too much of my own junk. I still run a compressor from the 80s that sounds like a dying lawnmower, and I keep telling myself it'll last another year just because I'm scared to spend the money on a new one. Ngl that Craigslist fan find is a win though, $400 beats the hell out of a $2,000 brand new unit. But yeah, now you got me looking at my spray guns and wondering which one is gonna quit mid-job next. Tbh keeping old gear alive is like a hobby for me at this point, I probably spend more time fixing stuff than actually using it.
