Hundredth paintjob came with a surprise lesson about clear coat

I just hit my 100th complete paintjob at the shop on Route 9 in Albany, and number 100 was a 2014 Civic with peeling clear coat on the roof. While mixing the color I realized I've been measuring hardener by eye for years, and that car finally proved my drops were always off by a few grams. A buddy of mine swears by digital scales for every batch, and after this I'm thinking he's onto something. Anyone else count their jobs and notice a pattern like this?

Tbh my eye-measuring got so bad my last batch could've glued a surfboard to the roof.

Ha! I hear you, but I actually think my eye-measuring has gotten weirdly better over time. Like I still manage to mess up simple stuff, but I can size up a crazy corner cut or a weird gap from across the room. Maybe it's just survival mode from all the times I've had to fix my own sloppy work. Surfboard on the roof sounds like a whole different kind of problem though, so maybe I'm just lucky.
