Hit 500 repairs this month and it messed with my head

I've been doing body work for about 8 years now and I never really counted until last week. Customer came in with a busted fender and I wrote up the ticket. Later that night I checked my records and realized I had done exactly 500 repair jobs this month alone. That number surprised me because I don't think of myself as some high volume guy. I work out of a two bay garage in Phoenix and most of my stuff is insurance claims and basic dent work. But 500 meant I was averaging over 20 jobs a week which is pretty crazy for a one man operation. It made me wonder if I'm rushing through things too fast or if I've just gotten good at the process. Has anyone else ever sat down and actually counted how many repairs they do in a month? I'm curious what normal looks like for other guys.

I hit 300 last month and spent a whole hour convincing myself I wasn't just slapping bondo on everything that rolls in.

Used to think it was just about the numbers, but hearing you say that actually makes a lot of sense. Reaching 300 is a real milestone but the real challenge is keeping your standards sharp. Bondo's got its place but knowing when to walk away from a car is a whole different skill I bet. Respect for taking that hour to check yourself, that's the kind of thing that keeps a shop honest.
