Can we talk about how nobody bends their own brackets anymore?

I was at a shop in Bakersfield last month and the owner was showing me his old Hossfeld bender. He told me in the 90s he bent every bracket for a full frame job by hand. Now he just orders a $30 piece from a catalog and waits two days. I get it, time is money, but watching him work that thing made me feel like we lost something. Any of you still bending your own stuff or is it all catalog now?
