Appreciation post: My old boss from the shop in Toledo finally called me back
Three years ago, I was just starting out and messed up a quarter panel on a customer's Camry. My boss, Frank, showed me how to fix it right instead of firing me. Last week, he called out of the blue to offer me a lead spot at his new place. Has anyone else had a mentor who stuck with them like that?

Is it really that deep though? People help each other out all the time. Sounds like a pretty normal work thing to me.

I mean yeah, but it's the small stuff that adds up. I see it all the time where the same few people end up carrying the team because "helping out" becomes their normal job. Maybe it's just me but that feels like a quiet way to burn people out.

So when does helping become their actual job?
