A 19 year old apprentice made me rethink my whole paint booth routine

Had a kid from the tech college shadowing me last Tuesday, and he asked why I still do my dry times by feel instead of using the data logger on the booth. I laughed it off at first, but then he pulled up the last 3 jobs and showed me my clear coat was going on 8 minutes too early every time. Checked his numbers against the paint tech sheet and he was dead on. Been doing this 22 years and never touched that logger once, now I'm wondering what else I've been missing. Anyone else have a younger guy point out something obvious that changed how you work?
