Wasted $200 on a telescope filter pack that promised to show me nebula colors
Ngl, those cheap color filters just made everything look dim and greenish, and I could barely see Jupiter's bands any clearer than with my naked eye - has anyone else fallen for those starter filter kits?

Bruh you paid for the "Instagram filter" experience but got the bargain bin version instead. Hubble would be rolling in his grave if he saw that greenish mess.

You promised to show me nebula colors" - that's the part that gets me. Were you actually expecting those cheap filters to make things look like the Hubble pictures or something? I mean, what kind of nebula were you hoping to see, and what scope were you using? Because I've heard those $30 filter sets just cut out too much light, especially on smaller scopes where you're already starved for photons. Were you looking at something bright like the Orion Nebula, or were you trying for fainter stuff?

Swapping in a decent O-III filter made all the difference for me on the Orion Nebula.
