Stumbled on the Perseids from a random dirt road in Colorado last week

I was driving back from a job near Salida and pulled over around 2am to check a tire. Looked up and saw maybe 20 meteors in 15 minutes without even trying. Has anyone else had a night where the sky just put on a show completely out of the blue?

Always better to get out and watch. Wind noise messes with your judgment.

Wait, did king.derek mean you should actually get out of your car to watch the wind? That sounds kind of wild honestly. I feel like you'd get sand or dust blasted in your face or something. But I guess wind noise in the car can really mess with how you hear things outside, so maybe it makes sense to step out for a second. Still, I'd probably stay inside the car with the windows cracked just to be safe. Maybe it's just me but I'd rather have bad judgment than get pelted by debris or whatever.
