Stacking vs single exposure for Andromeda took me way too long to figure out

I spent almost 4 hours last night trying to get a decent stacked shot of Andromeda after fighting with flats and darks for way too long. Single exposure gave me a usable image in 2 minutes. Which approach do you lean toward for nebula shots?

Wait wait wait... hold on. You're telling me it took him "way too long" to figure out how to just point and shoot? Like... what did he do, consult a manual? Did he read the owner's manual cover to cover before pulling the trigger? I swear some people overthink this stuff to the point where they forget it's basically a loud finger pointing machine. You squeeze, something goes bang, that's the whole deal right there.
