Why does nobody talk about switching to safety razors for shaving?
I tried a safety razor six months ago after years of expensive cartridge refills. Expected cuts and nicks everywhere but honestly got the closest shave of my life with almost no irritation. Paid $25 for the razor and a 100-pack of blades for $12 and I'm still using the same blades. Has anyone else found cartridge razors are just a scam compared to this?

$35 on cartridges every month before I switched. Four months in now. Thought the safety razor thing was just hipster nonsense honestly. But @the_ryan nailed it with that weight of the razor tip. Changed everything for me. No pressure, no cuts. Just let it glide. Blades cost me 10 cents each now. Cartridges are 100% a scam once you realize this.

Oh man, the blade thing is the real eye opener isn't it? I picked up a Merkur off Amazon and I was nervous at first but once you get the angle down it's so much smoother. Best tip I can give is don't press down at all, just let the weight of the razor do the work and go with the grain first. Also grab a styptic pencil for the first few shaves just in case but after that you'll barely nick yourself.
