Wasted $150 on a 'smart' water bottle that just made me angry
Honestly I fell for the hype about that HidrateSpark bottle that lights up to remind you to drink. It synced with my phone for like 2 days then kept disconnecting. The app was a mess and the battery died after 3 months. I just use a $10 Nalgene now and set a timer on my watch. Anyone else buy into a gadget that was supposed to fix a habit but just frustrated you?

Gotta disagree with you a bit there. I've had my HidrateSpark for over a year and it still works fine, the only issue I had was forgetting to charge it once a month. The lights and phone reminders actually helped me go from drinking maybe one glass of water a day to three or four, so for me it was worth the money for the habit change.

Yeah but see that one glass to three or four jump, what was your water intake like before the bottle broke down? Because I'm wondering if the habit actually stuck or if people just rely on the bottle being the reminder. I had a friend who used one of those smart bottles and when it died she went right back to barely drinking water. Did you ever try just setting phone alarms or using a regular water bottle after getting used to it? I'm curious if the bottle is really what changed the habit or if it's more of a crutch. Because $80 is a lot for a bottle if you're just gonna drop the habit when it stops working.
