The whole 'just ask questions' thing is lazy and people hide behind it
I was in a meetup last Tuesday in Austin and this guy kept saying 'I'm just asking questions' about climate data. No, bro, you're pushing a false narrative by pretending to be curious. I see this online all the time too on forums like this one. It's a cop out to avoid taking a stance or backing up your claim. Has anyone else caught someone doing this and called them out on it?

Ugh yeah I read this article last week about how "just asking questions" is basically a debate tactic people use to spread doubt without having to prove anything. It's super common with climate stuff like you said - they'll ask "but is the data really accurate?" and act like they're just being curious when really they're trying to make people question settled science. I saw someone do this with vaccines too, kept asking "innocent questions" about side effects but everyone knew what they were really getting at. It drives me nuts because it's so transparent. Just own your position instead of pretending to be this open minded seeker of truth.

Yeah but when you called that guy out, did he actually back off or just double down on the whole confused act?
