Showerthought: I just hit 100 'no' replies on a single forum thread

I was trying to get a clear answer on a specific coding error for a project. I kept asking follow-up questions in one thread, and after three days, I got exactly 100 replies that were just variations of 'no' or 'not that'. It mattered because it showed me how often people guess instead of admitting they don't know. I finally got the right fix from a guy in Austin who linked to an old GitHub issue. Has anyone else had a thread spiral like that over a simple problem?

Wow, that's a brutal way to find the right answer.

That method took them 47 tries. Brutal is the perfect word for it.

My friend actually tried something similar with a different recipe last month. She was trying to make her grandmother's famous bread and it took her like 30 tries to get it right. She kept changing the temperature and the amount of yeast each time because the original recipe was so vague. I went over to her house after attempt number 15 and she was covered in flour and looked like she wanted to cry. By the time she finally nailed it, she had saved one sad little loaf from each attempt to compare them. Her kitchen counter was a graveyard of bread loaves, it was honestly kind of funny. So yeah, I get the struggle, sometimes you just have to brute force your way through until something clicks.
