Rewatching my old vlog from 2019 hit different last night

Found a video I shot in March 2019, right before everything shut down. I was complaining about how slow my upload speeds were and rambling about a $15 tripod I bought at a pawn shop. Watching it now, I remember exactly where I was sitting and what I ate that day. It's weird how a random 4 minute video can bring back more than my photos do. Last week I tried to recreate one of the shots from that vlog in the same spot, and the whole block looks totally different now, new coffee shop, different street lights. Anyone else ever dig up old content of themselves and feel like it's a stranger talking? What's the oldest thing you've found on your own hard drive or cloud that still makes you pause?

...and it's funny because I was just reading this article about how smell is the strongest trigger for memory, but honestly I think video does it better for me too. There's something about hearing your own voice and seeing the exact lighting of that day, it's like time travel almost. My oldest thing on my hard drive is probably a 30 second clip from 2011 of me skateboarding in my mom's driveway, and I can't even watch the whole thing without getting this weird lump in my throat. The audio is terrible, the camera work is shaky, but it's like proof that I actually existed back then, you know? Photos feel flat but video has all the little details, the background noises, the way you talked, the stupid shirt you were wearing. And I totally get the stranger thing, sometimes I watch old clips of myself and think, who is this kid, what was he so worried about, because I can't even remember anymore.
