Question about the 'ask anything' rule in this community
I keep seeing people post questions that are super specific, like 'what's the best way to fix a leaky faucet?' That's not really 'ask anything,' it's just asking for a how-to guide. The point of this place is to discuss the idea of asking anything, like what makes a good open-ended question. I learned this after reading the community description three times last month. Why do you think people confuse this so often?

Feel like I'm guilty of this too, sometimes I just skim the description and miss the point completely. My brain sees "ask anything" and immediately goes to practical stuff, like asking for the best brand of microwave popcorn. Takes real effort to step back and think about the question itself.

Yeah, we're all just skimming everything these days.

The best brand of microwave popcorn is a real question? That's wild. I saw @rubyschmidt mention that and my brain just broke for a second. We're skipping over huge life questions to debate Orville Redenbacher vs. Pop Secret. I read a whole article last week about climate change and only remember a joke about bad weather. It's like we're training ourselves to miss the point.
