My car's alternator died on the highway near Dayton last Tuesday

Everyone says to just call a tow truck and wait, but I actually managed to coast into a gas station exit by putting it in neutral. It was a 2012 Civic and the dash lit up like a Christmas tree. What's the best way to handle a sudden breakdown when you're miles from a real service station?

Honestly, I'd just call the tow truck right away instead of risking it.

Nice job coasting to safety! That's a solid reminder to always scan for an exit when the warning lights come on.

It's wild how that mindset applies to way more than just driving. You see it with small problems at work or even in relationships, where ignoring the early signs just makes everything worse later. Having that mental map for a way out before you're in full panic mode is a skill that pays off everywhere. Kinda makes you wonder why we're so bad at teaching it as a general life thing.
