I was looking up random facts for a quiz night and found something wild about the first search engine
It was called Archie and came out in 1990, way before Google. I found this on a tech history site while trying to find a good trivia question. I always thought search engines were a late 90s thing... so that really threw me. Has anyone else come across an old tech fact that surprised them?

My friend's dad still has a working Apple Newton from 1993. The handwriting recognition was famously, hilariously bad.

Yeah, the "famously, hilariously bad" handwriting thing is such a big part of its story. I read that the joke about it not being able to read "egg freckles" from a grocery list was everywhere back then. It's wild to think that was the start of the whole PDA and touch screen idea. Makes you wonder what tech we use today will seem just as clumsy in another thirty years.
