I asked what time zone abbreviations really mean and lost 3 weeks down a rabbit hole
I asked a simple question on here about why Arizona does not do daylight saving, and someone said MST is actually Mountain Standard all year while everyone else flips. That sent me digging for three weeks straight. I called the Arizona commerce office in Phoenix twice and got two different answers. Then I pulled old railroad timetables from the 1880s at my local library and those had their own shorthand. The whole mess started over a postcard I was trying to date. Now I know more about time zone naming than I ever wanted. Can someone finally settle this, is there one official list or is it all just cities making it up as they go?
