Hit 6 months of using a mechanical keyboard at my desk job and my wrists finally stopped hurting.
Turns out all that typing on a cheap membrane keyboard was slowly wrecking my hands and I only figured it out when my coworker let me try his Cherry MX board last February.

Figured out the same thing, but rubber domes aren't always cheap, just bad for your hands.

Alright, people always talk about the feel or the cost, but nobody ever mentions how rubber domes wear out in a way that's super uneven. Like, after a few months, the W key on a cheap dome board gets all mushy and inconsistent while the Z key still feels brand new because you barely touch it. That drives me crazy. It makes typing feel like a gamble every time you press a key. You don't get that same level of weird, lopsided wear with a mechanical switch, even a basic one. Maybe that's the real hidden cost nobody talks about, the frustration of your keyboard slowly falling apart on you key by key.
